Finding the Help You Deserve
As a Master Practitioner Clinical Counsellor, religious trauma recovery coach, and former fundamentalist, I understand the lasting impact of authoritarian religion. Many adults raised this way struggle with self-esteem, sexuality, boundaries, communication, and decision-making. I help clients assess the effects of indoctrination, examine inherited beliefs, develop a grounded, reality-based worldview, and build safe, supportive secular connections. Just as religion can shape every part of life, healing can too. As a secular clinical counsellor and coach, I help adults recover from religious conditioning and reclaim autonomy, purpose, and joy. Together we explore internalized messages from family and faith, clarify values, strengthen boundaries and communication, rebuild self-esteem, and create a life aligned with who you truly are. If religion once shaped your identity, relationships, or sense of self, you are not alone - and you are not broken. I specialize in religious trauma recovery and have helped many people find clarity, freedom, and peace after leaving high-control belief systems. Healing is possible, and you don't have to do it alone. EDUCATION & ADVOCACY My work extends beyond the therapy room into education and advocacy. I founded the Conference on Religious Trauma (CORT) and the Shameless Sexuality Conference, host the Divorcing Religion and Sex & Power podcasts, and authored Divorcing Religion: A Memoir and Survival Handbook. As a board member of the British Columbia Humanist Association and a secular humanist, I stay engaged with both professional and lived perspectives on religious trauma, which informs the care I offer to clients.
