Finding the Help You Deserve
We're drawn to think about and grow toward being the person who we really are. Many of our struggles involve change, frustration, fear for our future, aloneness, and making meaning of our lives. You don’t have to face these intimidating topics alone. I invite you to bring them for us to reflect on together. Our work life also affects, and is affected by, our mental health. I had an extensive corporate career before earning an MA in Counselling Psychology and HBA in Psychology. I understand the courage it takes to take the first step away from the familiar and toward new possibilities. I understand what it is to want your life to be different. Is your path as a caregiver a sprint or a marathon? Each path requires different things of us and challenges who we are in different ways. We can struggle with messages from ourselves and others about what we “should” do, think, or feel. Juggling these along with all of our other responsibilities can feel overwhelming. Perhaps you’d like to – or you feel that you need to – reconnect with who you are. Although everyone will struggle with bereavement or grief, it can be a uniquely lonely experience. We also grieve for losses of other kinds: a job, our physical ability, a relationship, or a place we must leave. I understand the aloneness and the fear of hurting someone by expressing our own hurt. It's safe to share it with me. Everyone experiences traumas. Some, we can move on from. Some lead to changes in our lives in ways that we had never thought or imagined. It’s ok to need help with them, and with feelings of anger and grief. I offer in-person sessions in Durham Region, with Saturday mornings by special arrangement, and online sessions across the rest of Ontario.
