Finding the Help You Deserve
My name is Ryan, I’m currently working towards a Masters in Counselling Psychology with Yorkville University. I also have a degree in Anthropology with minors in Human Evolution and Ethnology. I’m also an avid martial artist. I learnt at a young age that everyone has struggles in life, but not everyone has people to help them endure these hardships. As I grew older I found that I had a talent for listening to people, and that they found it easy to speak with me. These gifts have allowed me to have fulfilling work; as a cultural resource manager, as a youth worker, and as a karate Sensei. I’ve worked with people from the ages of 7-64, in matters of ADHD, Anger, Anxiety, BPD, Depression, and Trauma. I’ve also worked with white, aboriginal, and immigrant populations. Now, I want to get better at helping them. This is what has led to me to pursue a career in psychotherapy. Courage and Compassion My approach is Adlerian in nature. I believe that strong interpersonal relationship are what allow us to cope with difficult times and heal from past wounds. It combines elements of Exposure Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients better navigate the precarious line between their authentic selves and the demands of society. It has been my experience that when you give people the courage to be their true selves, and the compassion to place their true selves in service of others, the true meaning of life becomes clear.
